Public Health System

The Health system in Egypt is for most of the population is government based health care. This insurance system suffers underfunding, low quality care, lack of medical equipment, and qualified personnel. Some of hospitals away from city center in a really bad conditions in terms of building structural conditions , its cleanliness and even the medical equipment’s. If you can’t afford private or semi private hospitals then you are stuck with what the government hospitals have to offer. Blood shortage is common in those hospitals, they might ask your family to donate blood to be able to provide you with blood, You have to wait several hours mainly on the floor as there are no seats available . Most medications aren’t available so you have to purchase them from outside pharmacies. The medical staff specially the nurses aren’t really certified. You would be lucky if you don’t get an infection after a routine procedure there.
